A SPIRITUAL HOME FOR US PART II

Spatial design research with Nabiha Zaid
(Concrete Blossom/The Niteshop)

❋ Year

2024

After our collection of stories, experiences and visions by Muslim women, we teamed up with spatial designer and community member Nabiha Zaid to visually design a YUMNA space using the Niteshop method. Through community-based and participatory research the final design reflected key elements such as room for prayer, informal gathering and knowledge-sharing through color, materials, lightning, different heights and organic shapes. This process led to a vision for a YUMNA space in an urban environment and was presented during the Cultural Currency Conference 2024 in Rotterdam.
